Summary
Ipamorelin is a selective growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) and ghrelin receptor agonist composed of five amino acids. Unlike other GH-releasing peptides, it selectively stimulates growth hormone release from the pituitary gland without significantly affecting cortisol, prolactin, or ACTH levels, making it one of the cleanest GH-stimulating peptides available for research. Preclinical and early clinical studies demonstrate that Ipamorelin produces dose-dependent increases in plasma growth hormone levels comparable to GHRP-6, but with markedly reduced stimulation of cortisol and prolactin secretion. In animal models, repeated administration over multiple weeks has shown sustained GH pulsatility without desensitisation of the pituitary axis. Studies in post-surgical recovery models indicate improved nitrogen balance and accelerated return of bowel function, suggesting anabolic and pro-recovery activity. Pharmacokinetic data show rapid absorption with peak GH levels achieved within 30–45 minutes of administration, and the peptide is generally well tolerated in experimental protocols.
